Bollywood wishes Aamir Khan on his birthday

Mumbai: Aamir Khan has etched an image as Bollywood's 'Mr. Perfectionist' in action-packed, comedy, romantic and emotional movies in his career of over 25 years. As the superstar turned 50 on Saturday, his co-stars and directors talked about a different and fun side of him.
While actress Preity Zinta feels that along with dedication to his work the star has a streak of madness that adds a zing to life, Amisha Patel says that he will always be 22 for her.
Directors like Rajkumar Santoshi and Indra Kumar also kept his professional life aside and described Aamir as a "true friend".
Aamir has regaled his fans with films such as "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak", "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke", "Sarfarosh", "Lagaan", "Rang De Basanti", "Fanaa", "Ghajini", "3 Idiots" and "Talaash" and the very recent "PK" during his long career of more than two decades.
He is currently busy preparing for his role as a wrestler in "Dangal".
On turning 50, some stars and directors shared their opinion about Aamir and wished him a "more successful life" ahead.
Preity Zinta: Aamir has always been very focused on his work, dedicated, sweet, a bit mad and a lot of fun. We had a lot of fun working in "Dil Chahta Hai". It was a youthful film. And we were all young, and raring to go. All of us had a ball working on it.
Amisha Patel: Everyone knows Aamir to be a perfectionist. But only those who have worked with him can vouch for his integrity. I am one of the lucky heroines who had the privilege of doing one of my most important films "The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey" with Aamir. It was at the audition for "Lagaan" that I met Aamir for the first time. I remember he was a superstar. I was a nobody. Yet he treated me so gently and affectionately. I learnt so much just watching Aamir at work. Honesty comes naturally to him. Is he really turning 50? To me he's eternally 22.
Urmila Matondkar: It was wonderful working with Aamir (in "Rangeela"). The best thing about working with him is that you can explore any number of ways of approaching the same scene and then working out the best possible way of executing that scene. I wish him many more successful films.
Rajkumar Santoshi (who worked with Aamir in "Andaz Apna Apna"): The Aamir that I know is honest, sincere, and a hardworking actor, a sensitive person and a true friend.
John Matthew Matthan ( who worked with the superstar in "Sarfarosh"): The Aamir that I know is a great guy to know and work with.
Indra Kumar (worked with Aamir in "Dil") : He is a truly good human being and emotional. He is always there to help family and friends.
Ashutosh Gowariker (Worked with Aamir in "Lagaan"): The Aamir I know is an enigma.
Vijay Krishna Acharya (Worked with him in "Dhoom:3" ): The Aamir that I know is normal and naughty.

Losing 'Singh is Bling' unfortunate: Kriti Sanon

Mumbai: Kriti Sanon, who made her Bollywood debut with "Heropanti", has stepped out of "Singh Is Bling" due to constant delays. The actress says its very unfortunate that she couldn't do the film.
Directed by Prabhudeva, "Singh Is Bling" features Akshay Kumar in the lead role and Kriti hopes that she will get the chance to work with both in future.
"I feel disappointed as I really wanted to do that film. I hope I get an opportunity to work with Akshay Kumar and Prabhudeva as they are very supportive people," Kriti told reporters in a group interview.
"I think it's unfortunate that I was not able to do that film but someday I will get to work with them," she added.
The actress, who even started learning karate for the film, says skills never go waste.
"As far as learning is concerned, you are adding this to your talent. Whatever you learn will never go waste. It will be beneficial for me in future," she said.

Sanjay Gupta: Working with Shabana Azmi like crossing a milestone

Mumbai: Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is elated over teaming up with Shabana Azmi for his film "Jazbaa". He says working with the veteran actress and social activist takes his career to a new high.
The filmmaker took to micro-blogging site Twitter to share his thoughts before starting the shoot with the actress on Sunday.
"Oh and tomorrow will be first day on JAZBAA set with Shabanaji. Working with her will be another milestone crossed in my career," Gupta tweeted on Saturday.
The actress is known to take audiences to a different zone with her acting and expressions and has kept a balance between parallel and commercial cinema in her career.
Shabana, who is married to writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar, is credited for her critical performance in films like "Ankur", "Arth", "Junoon" and "Amar Akbar Anthony".
In recent times, she has won accolades for her work in "Fire", "Godmother", "Morning Raga" and "Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd." and "Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola".
Meanwhile, "Jazbaa" has grabbed eye-balls for many reasons as it is also the comeback vehicle of Aishwarya Rai.
The film also features Irrfan Khan, Anupam Kher, Atul Kulkarni, Chandan Roy Sanyal and John Abraham in a cameo.

Ekta Kapoor launches her fashion label 'EK'

Balaji headhoncho, Ekta Kapoor after producing films and ruling the small screen for over a decade, has now decided to venture into the fashion segment with her signature label 'EK'.

Ekta Kapoor made a formal announcement today at a press conference in Mumbai, launching the label that features women's clothes and accessories, with lead actors from her shows, namely Sakshi Tanwar, Anita Hassanandani, Divyanka Tripathi, Paridhi Sharma, Sriti Jha & Karan Patel.

Mumbai: Indian film icon Amitabh Bachchan says Hindi cinema may be universal because of its language factor in the country, but he finds the immense presence of regional cinema to be “incredible”.

The actor was recently down south to shoot for a TV commercial with southern superstars.

In a photograph which he posted on his blog and Twitter account, the Big B is seen dressed in a traditional outfit, and he is standing alongside younger superstars Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Akkineni Nagarjuna and Shiva Rajkumar.

On Twitter, the image was captioned: “With the greats of the Southern film Industry... privileged honoured. Their Father’s Icons of my early years.”

The 72-year-old feels “regional cinema has elevated the local talents to immense heights and needs to be lauded for its enterprising efforts”.

He took to his blog srbachchchan.tumblr and wrote: “Marathi cinema, for example, is coming out with some of the most prolific content in recent times. The artistry of their work, their story telling, their performances have all been exemplary.

“Hindi cinema has been more universal because of its language factor, but the immense presence of the regional cinema is incredible, both in its output and in its commerce.

“Hindi cinema does not have the largest number of films in a year coming out of the country, it’s Telugu cinema...and perhaps I may not be mistaken, even in its box office commercial revenues.”

Akshay's Marathi co-production locked for January 1, 2016

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's next Marathi film co-production, based on a film legend, will be out on January 1, 2016.

After producing Marathi film “72 Miles - Ek Pravas”, Grazing Goat Pictures, a film production house that is a joint venture between Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi, is ready with the next one.

“We at @GrazingGoatPix are proud to announce our next Marathi film based on a film legend releasing on 1st Jan, 2016. @AshviniYardi,” Akshay tweeted Thursday.

The company has also produced Bollywood film “OMG - Oh My God!”, which featured Akshay in a small role.

Apart from Marathi films, the production house has also produced “Bhaji in Problem”, a Punjabi comedy.

Badlapur collections rise to Rs 42 crore in two weeks

Varun Dhawan starrer Bollywood movie Badlapur has earned Rs 42 crore in two weeks. In the second weekend, collections in the Mumbai circuit declined. The movie fared better in North India with both Delhi/UP and East Punjab showing smaller drops compared to Mumbai.
The crime drama film is directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla. The movie also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Huma Qureshi in lead roles with Yami Gautam, Vinay Pathak, Divya Dutta, and Radhika Apte in supporting roles.It released on 20 February 2015.

Pak singer Adnan Sami applies for Indian citizenship

Pakistani singer Adnan Sami has applied for Indian citizenship for a second time despite an earlier plea of his having been rejected by the Centre.
The 43-year-old singer -- whose earlier request was rejected some two years back -- has made his application to the Foreigners' Division of the Home Ministry.

"His application is under consideration," official sources said.

Last month, Home Ministry had asked Law Ministry as to whether Sami can be granted Indian citizenship. But Law Ministry refused to entertain the request, saying that the power of granting Indian citizenship lies with the Home Ministry under the Citizenship Act.

The Law Ministry, however, said that it can help Home Ministry with the interpretation of any provision of the Citizenship Act to enable it to decide the case.

Under the Indian Citizenship Act, a foreigner is entitled to receive citizenship provided that he or she has rendered distinguished service to the cause of science, philosophy, art, literature, world peace or human progress.

Sami, who has a Pakistani passport, had arrived in India in 2001 and, between 2001 and 2013, visited the UK and several other countries. He has a business and professional visa.
His earlier application for citizenship was submitted to the special branch of Mumbai Police.

Farhan Akhtar goes to Srinagar for 'Wazir'

Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar moved to Srinagar for the shooting of his upcoming drama "Wazir".

"Off to Srinagar now for the final schedule on Wazir...Flight delayed by an hour... good things come to those who wait, I guess," Farhan tweeted on Sunday.
Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Aditi Rao Hydari.
Farhan, 41, will play an Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officer in the film.
The teaser of "Wazir", written and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, released on December 19, 2014 with Aamir Khan-starrer "PK".
After the film's shooting, Farhan will enthrall music lovers at a concert in Noida on March 3.

Aejaz Gulab wants to direct Salman

Aejaz Gulab, who made his debut as a director with "Ab Tak Chhappan 2", says he is planning to approach superstar Salman Khan for his next.
"As a filmmaker everybody wants to grow and as far as I am concerned, I am very good friends with Salman Khan. I want to work with him in my next project and I will soon be approaching him for the same," Gulab told IANS.
"But at the moment, it's too early to reveal any more details," added Gulab, who worked with the superstar in films like "Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega..." and "Veergati" as a stunt director.
However, when asked about the genre of his next venture, he said: "It's a very special project and I will make an announcement once things fall into place."

"The Budget is disappointing. The affordable housing sector was expecting that the Narendra Modi government, like last time, would extend some support to it and iron out the difficulties.

Post split, pet Nori stays with Sid

Last year, actors Siddharth and Samanatha seemed to be in a happy relationship and all was well. The relationship took an unfortunate turn and in December 2014 the two parted ways. In August last year, Samantha found a cute black pup on the streets of Chennai and adopted her. She named her Nori and put up pics of them on twitter.

Following the split, it looks like Siddharth is the one who is playing dad to Nori. He added that it was his two dogs Mowgli and Nori who help him cope with any crisis along with his family. Wonder why Samantha - who does a lot of charity and loves pets - didn't take Nori. Perhaps, Mowgli needed a companion and the two dogs were happy to be together.

Neha is in a mood to experiment

After making her debut in the romantic entertainer Dil Deewana, actress Neha Deshpande will soon be seen in a social drama The Bells, directed by Praveen Chandra. "I play a school teacher in the film. Although there's a glamorous side to her as well, my characterisation is that of a woman who takes social responsibility seriously, and likes to serve people through various social initiatives. The film also expounds women empowerment and the challenges faced by modern women," says Neha, adding, "We shot in old age homes, slums, and orphanages in Warangal. I had to get my hands dirty while cleaning the roads but it was an amazing experience."

Apart from this film, Neha, who was born and brought up in Hyderabad, has also wrapped up shooting for another project Shree Nilayam. "It's a suspense thriller and I play a young home maker, who returns to India from the US. The film is about the consequences we face after my husband and I get trapped in a haunted house one fine night," Neha reveals.

Mahesh is Akhil's villain

Akhil has recently finished shooting of his debut film in Hyderabad and getting ready for the next schedule with heroine Sayessha. A very little info about the cast is been revealed out by the Akhil and his gang for his launch pad.

Now a surprise element of Akhil film is leaked out by the unit members and Mahesh is been signed as villain in this yet to be titled movie. As per sources director V.V.Vinayak have a close relationship with Bollywood actor Mahesh Manjrekar from a longtime and with Adhurs film it got even stronger.

In Akhil's movie there was a requirement of an antagonist who could balance both comedy and crooked villainous shades in him. So Vinayak felt Mahesh will perfectly fit the bill and he will do cent percent justice to the role inked. An official announcement will be made shortly, added unit members.

Mumbai: Sonam Kapoor has been admitted to a private hospital in Rajkot, Gujarat. She was shooting for her film ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. Reportedly, the actress complained of sore throat and high fever.
According to Hindustan Times, doctors are suspecting swine flu. They have taken her blood samples to conduct the appropriate tests.
Sonam has been hospitalised for the second time this month. Earlier this month, she was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai after she suffered a respiratory infection while shooting for the film in Karjat.
She resumed the shoot in Gujarat along with the other cast and crew of the film. Salman and Anupam Kher are also shooting for the same in Gondal, Rajkot.

Mumbai: Varun has made his father and director David Dhawan proud who says that he is "over the moon" after the success of his son's film "Badlapur".
For David, success of "Badlapur" is special as it has given a new identity to his son Varun".
"Today is a great day for me. I have seen so much of success till now but this success is at par and special for me," Dhawan, known for hit films like "Raja Babu", "Coolie No. 1", " Saajan Chale Sasural" and " Haseena Maan Jaayegi", said here at the success party of "Badlapur".
"I think I am one of the happiest fathers in the world," he added.
David Dhawan directed his 27-year-old son in the comedy "Main Tera Hero" and he is happy that his son's hard work in the dark and intense revenge drama "Badlapur" has paid off.
" Obviously he (Varun Dhawan) is my son but I think he has taken a very strong step to do a film like that. He has worked very hard on this film and it is evident also," the director said.
It was his own decision to do this film," he added.
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, "Badlapur" features Varun in an aggresive and rugged avatar. Not only is the film doing well at the box office, but it is being appreciated by the audiences.

New Delhi: Katrina is bonding BIG time with the Kapoors! And why not? The beautiful actress is going to be Mrs. Ranbir Kapoor soon. Katrina has started a WhatsApp group and named it the Kapoors!
